Leander's Fall Runs Through Four City Parks While Northline Is Still Being Built

Two dates in the Visit Leander fall guide from late August are now wrong. Forecast weather led the City of Leander to move ArtFest from Oct. 3 to Saturday, Oct. 10. The Bluegrass & Folk Festival, first set for the opening weekend of October, moved to Friday and Saturday, Oct. 16–17.

Both events kept their venues. ArtFest is still on the Lakewood Park Sculpture Trail, and Bluegrass is still at Mason Homestead. That says a lot about where Leander's shared calendar actually lives this year. Northline, next to CapMetro's Leander Station, is being planned as the city's town square, with civic spaces, apartments, offices and retail anchored by Sprouts Farmers Market. As of early October, none of its restaurants and not its grocery store is confirmed open. For fall 2026, the town square is still split among four parks run by Leander Parks & Recreation, plus the blocks of Hero Way and Old Town closest to them.

The corrected calendar

Here is the City's fall lineup with the rescheduled dates. The rest of this post builds on it.

Date Event Venue Details
Sat., Oct. 10 ArtFest Lakewood Park Sculpture Trail 2–6 p.m., "Down the Rabbit Hole" theme, costumes encouraged
Fri.–Sat., Oct. 16–17 21st Annual Bluegrass & Folk Festival Mason Homestead 6–9:30 p.m., free admission and parking
Sat., Oct. 17 Floating Pumpkin Patch Robin Bledsoe Pool Pick a pumpkin from the pool, then decorate it
Sat., Oct. 24 Tricks & Treats Spooktacular Devine Lake Park, 1807 Waterfall Ave. 6–9 p.m., free entry, food trucks and a fun zone
Fri.–Sat., Nov. 6–7 Fall Family Campout Devine Lake Park $35 per family, registration through the City
Wed.–Sun., Nov. 11–15 Leander Film Festival Venues across Leander Opens on Veterans Day at the Leander VFW

The move puts most of the season on Saturday, Oct. 17. The Residential Clean Up was rescheduled to that morning from 8 a.m. to noon. The Floating Pumpkin Patch is the same day at Robin Bledsoe Pool, Bluegrass holds its second night at Mason Homestead that evening, and Texas Pumpkin Fest is open that weekend at 8760 FM 2243. Pumpkin Fest runs Saturdays and Sundays from Oct. 10 through Nov. 1, plus Oct. 12 and Oct. 30, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Its site says it is not at Star Hill Ranch this year and may close in rain, so check the day-of status before you drive over.

Each park has its own job

Each of the four parks hosts a different kind of evening.

Lakewood Park is the art venue. The City's Public Arts and Culture Commission presents ArtFest along the Sculpture Trail with live entertainment, food, art contests and booths from artists in Leander and across Texas.

Mason Homestead is the music venue, and its festival has the longest run on the calendar. This is the 21st year of Bluegrass & Folk. In the August guide, Midnight Grass and Cooper's Uncle were set for the first night, followed by Strawberry Flats, Bobby Giles & Texas Gales Band, and Hot Pickin' 57s on the second. That lineup was published before the date change, so check the City's festival page to confirm who plays which night. Bring lawn chairs.

Robin Bledsoe Pool hosts the one event the City's tourism guide calls "a uniquely Leander experience." Families choose pumpkins floating in the pool and decorate them before taking them home.

Devine Lake Park hosts two events, more than any other park this fall. Parks & Recreation and the Leander Police Department run Tricks & Treats Spooktacular there on Oct. 24. Two weeks later, the Fall Family Campout fills the same park overnight. Check-in starts at 5 p.m. Friday and checkout is 10 a.m. Saturday. Dinner, outdoor games, crafts, a movie, campfire time and breakfast are included in the $35 family fee.

Where to eat before and after

If a neighborhood restaurant is part of your festival night, the places confirmed open this fall are mostly along Hero Way and in South Brook Station near Old Town. Northline's openings come later.

South Brook Station added two restaurants this summer. Atomic Wings opened July 15 at 144 South Brook Drive, Suite 130. Limegreen Southeast Asian Grill, a family-owned spot, soft-opened Aug. 13 across the drive at 145 South Brook Drive, Suite 120, and held its official opening Aug. 21. Limegreen's own page says the location is near Old Town Leander. The menu covers bánh mì, bowls, teas and Vietnamese coffee, which works for an afternoon at ArtFest.

Two adult options sit close together on Hero Way West. Leanderthal Lounge at 11894 Hero Way W. serves cocktails and sells bottles Wednesday through Saturday. It is closed Sunday and admits only guests 21 and older. Obsidian Brewery, at 11880 Hero Way W., Suite 208, serves pizza, beer and cocktails. Neither site shows a date on its hours, so confirm before going, especially on a Sunday. The distillery already works as a civic venue: the City's Books and Brews program met there on Sept. 19.

Old Town's newest storefront is a bookshop. Lioness Books opened at 208 N. Gabriel St. on April 25, after a storage fire delayed its debut. It is open Wednesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. This week it hosts a Women's Book Club on Oct. 7, a Banned Books Week Libro Read-In on Oct. 8 and an expressive-arts workshop on Oct. 9.

The newest sit-down option is on the north edge of the city. Hopdoddy Burger Bar opened its first Leander location Sept. 1 at 19389 Ronald Reagan Blvd., Suite 100, near Hwy. 29. That center, 29 Gateway, lists Handel's Homemade Ice Cream, Crave Cookies and Sport Clips as future tenants.

There is one gap in the Hero Way coffee story. In July, Community Impact reported a Tim Hortons at 1561 Hero Way with an Aug. 15 soft opening and a September grand opening. We found no confirmation that it opened, so check before you plan a coffee stop there.

What's actually on Northline's schedule

KXAN filmed Northline under construction on Sept. 30. Here is what the reported dates say about when it starts working as a place to eat, drink coffee and shop:

  • November 2026: anticipated construction completion for Tacodeli and forecast completion for Leander's second 7 Brew at 10281 183A Toll Frontage Road
  • Dec. 30, 2026: expected construction completion for Ike's Love & Sandwiches
  • Early 2027: expected opening for Tifa Chocolate & Gelato
  • 2027: Sprouts, which was still described as under construction in an August Chamber update
  • Spring 2027: Aubergine Kitchen at 508 E. San Gabriel Parkway, Suite 110
  • 2028: businesses expected to open in Northline's planned 30,000-square-foot market district, with construction starting in 2027

The Chamber also lists Urban Egg, Oak & Stone and Pepper Lunch among announced Northline businesses but does not say they are operating. Piada Italian Street Food's state filing estimated completion in September 2026, and no opening has been reported since. Construction finish dates and opening dates are often weeks apart. At best, Northline's first restaurants arrive around the holidays, after this fall's park events are over.

Two non-Northline openings will come sooner. Wren's Landing, a board game cafe and bar from co-owners Charles and Mindy Carlson, plans to open in December at 1561 Hero Way, Suite 120. Dough It Up, the traditional Italian restaurant from Cedar Park, plans a Leander location at 15609 Ronald Reagan Blvd. "later this fall."

November gives the parks a break

The first Leander Film Festival, Nov. 11–15, is the only fall event that leaves the parks. It also uses the venues above. It opens on Veterans Day with a remembrance ceremony and a pop-up drive-in at the Leander VFW, with sound through your FM radio. Thursday offers a VR boxing match between the Leander and Cedar Park police chiefs, or a private red-carpet screening of the opening-night film Jimmy. Filmmakers gather Friday night at Leanderthal Distilling. Saturday brings live bands and food to the Leander Activity Center. Sunday ends with a locally shot pilot starring Adrian Grenier and an awards gala.

That puts the festival's biggest nights at a VFW post, a Hero Way distillery and the city's activity center. Like the rest of this fall's calendar, it runs entirely on venues that are already open.

At Team West Real Estate, we follow Leander openings by address, from South Brook Station to the 183A frontage road, so we can tell you what's open now and what's still under construction. If you're weighing a move within Leander and want to know how close a street is to Devine Lake Park, Old Town or Northline's construction timeline, Request a Specialist and we'll go over it with you.
